Sara brings her broad experience in diverse spheres of law which she has gained from her work as an in-house lawyer in a big international franchising company. During her three-year tenure as an in-house lawyer, she dealt with the franchise agreement and related negotiations, preparation, and review of all types of sale, service, supply, lease, and any other commercial contracts, labor disputes, state registration of the changes in the constituent documents, and application for permits and licenses for the company.

In addition to her aforementioned legal practice, she has volunteered for international non-governmental and governmental organizations which have enriched her with different legal, organizational, and administrative skill sets.

As a senior associate at VLM, Sara consistently provides our clients with tailored contracts and insightful advice on intellectual property, data protection, and other legal matters. Moreover, armed with her impressive theoretical and practical background in the international arbitration field, Sara actively engaged in navigating our clients' complex disputes and securing their interests before international arbitration institutes. She has supported a broad array of businesses spanning from FMCG companies and insurance brokers to the oil and gas industry players.

Alongside her legal practice at our firm, Sara is an adjunct lecturer at Baku State University.

Key Accomplishments

  • Have been part of the international team working on the ICSID arbitration case representing Azerbaijani and Latvian investors;

  • Made a valuable contribution to our due diligence report on a giant target company from the oil and gas sector, unveiling serious risks regarding cross-border loans;

  • Lead full legal outsourcing for the Azerbaijani producer of one of the most influential beverage brands in the world, and a chain of fast food restaurants. Full legal outsourcing of these companies includes drafting contracts with international counterparts, legal research and drafting of legal opinions on matters such as customs, migration and labor relations, and application for business licenses;

  • Advised and assisted the migration cases linked to the Netherlands, Malta, Israel, and Ukraine in relation to the acquisition of residence and work permits, or citizenship status;

  • Delivered legal guidance for the international chain of medical centres through the process of creation of databases and acquiring related permits and licenses for this purpose;

  • Assisted the registration process of the branch of the well-known international oil and gas company, the process of change of director in the big Azerbaijani professional investment company;

  • Assisted an international mineral water company with the process of the sale of ownership percentage of the LLC;

  • Registered several well-known trademarks.
